8 Tips For Boosting Your Fridge Freezer Samsung Game
Samsung Fridge Freezers With SmartThings

Samsung's Family Hub refrigerator combines the capacity of a 389-litre fridge with an 225-litre freezer. It's a large American-style model with quality temperature control, as well as an impressive slate of features that are smart.

You can customize it by removing panels to match your collection of matte black Rick Owens clothing and tie-dye Crocs.

All Round Cooling

Separate cooling circuits for fridges equipped with All Round Cooing help keep your food fresher. In conventional fridges, a single cooling evaporator cools both the freezer and refrigerator compartments. This can result in your food drying out because the low-humidity atmosphere from your refrigerator is pumped into. This can make them taste bland and unpleasant.

Each shelf is equipped with multiple vents to circulate cool air. This helps to maintain a consistent temperature even when you open and shut the door of your fridge.

Optimal Fresh zone helps keep seafood and meats fresher for two times longer than in conventional refrigerators, without freezing. This feature is a game changer for anyone who loves to cook but doesn't like the hassle of thawing frozen meats or fish.

All Round Cooling uses an All Round Cooling cooling plate that is located at the back of the refrigerator in order to hold cold air and prevent its loss when you open the door. It also reduces the requirement for power defrosting, saving you time and money.

Samsung refrigerators have one of the top ice makers we've tried. The patented Twist Ice Maker dispensing large cubes is dispensed with one simple twist. It can be kept below the fridge when not being used. This makes more space on the shelves and makes it easier to find your favourite drinks and snacks.

You can choose which way your freezer and fridge open by using Reversible Doors. This lets you easily integrate your fridge in the layout of your kitchen and keep your fridge clean and tidy.

Samsung's Family Hub is the central control of your SmartThings-connected home. It is a huge touchscreen that is mounted on your refrigerator. It will show you a live video feed of your smart doorbell. It also allows you to order groceries with an automated inventory system or suggest recipes based on the items in the shelves.

Samsung refrigerators feature drawers that flex at the bottom that are an intelligent storage solution. They make it easy to store taller items such as pizza trays, and cans of drinks. They can be turned back when not in use and folded flat to save space. This is a fantastic feature for those who like to cook and bake, but have limited fridge space.

FlexZone

The Samsung FlexZone side by side fridge freezer has a unique 3-zone system that allows you to add an additional freezer drawer or refrigerator compartment. This flexibility allows you customize the fridge freezer to suit your storage needs and requirements. The FlexZone module lets you upgrade your fridge to a bigger or smaller size by incorporating an extra FlexZone.

The refrigerator is elegant in its design that will fit in with any kitchen design. Its stainless steel finish is elegant and sturdy. It also comes with anti-fingerprint coating to keep the exterior of the appliance looking fresh. The fridge comes with an external water and ice dispenser to make it even more convenient.

This fridge features the FlexZone bottom-right compartment that can be converted from freezer to refrigerator. This lets you store things like ice cream, bags frozen vegetables, meat or fish in the freezer. It also did well in our tests, however the 21.5-inch touchscreen's bloated apps and the absence of voice control or SmartThings integration are a missed opportunity.

The rest of the fridge is full of space for food storage, with two crisper trays as well as a middle FlexZone drawer that can be customized. The drawer lets you select among five different settings based on the requirements of your fridge's freezer compartment. There are five different settings: A freezer setting, a soft-freeze setting for wine trays, or deli trays, for instance, meat setting, fish setting and a beverage set-up to store snacks, drinks and other items that are frequently used.

This Samsung FlexZone side by side refrigerator is ideal for families who want to have a refrigerator and a freezer in one unit. It's not as big as the top French-door models but offers many useful features. It's a good option for those who have little space in their homes.

The Samsung Fridge Freezer is also an extremely energy efficient fridge, thanks to its digital inverter technology. This technology regulates the temperature inside the fridge so it doesn't fluctuate too much and keeps your food fresher for longer. Its energy efficiency has earned it an Energy STAR certification.

SmartThings

SmartThings isn't quite the same platform that Alexa and Google Assistant are, but it does have numerous smart devices you can add. It's also integrated into Samsung smartphones, tablets and TVs - and some refrigerators. It could be enough to justify it for some, particularly if you have multiple Samsung products.

The SmartThings app is pretty refined and well-rounded and comes with a 'if x then y' automation section that performs surprisingly well. You can set things up such as an alarm that goes off when water sensors detect flooding, or turn on the lights when your phone senses that you're in your home. It can also control your fridge by connecting it to a smart socket, however we've had mixed results with that.

You'll need a hub in order to make use of SmartThings, which isn't expensive. Samsung offers a variety of different options which include the SmartThings Station that you can attach to a router and use as an nightlight. There's also a more affordable SmartThings Hub Dongle that can support Z-Wave and Zigbee and Thread, with Thread support to be added soon.

Once you have your smart fridge connected to your smartphone, hub and fridge, it's really easy to use. SmartThings lets you control your refrigerator from anywhere. Notifications are sent to your smartphone when the refrigerator is opened or closed. You can set up schedules, change the temperature and even set reminders.

SmartThings is a founding member of the Home Connectivity Alliance, which is working to make major appliances in the home from a variety of manufacturers compatible. In the future, you could control your Samsung washer/dryer, Electrolux oven, and LG TV using the same application.

Although it's not as widely used as Alexa and Google Assistant, SmartThings does have some major players on its roster which include Arlo, Nest, Belkin and Lifx. It's also compatible with Matter, an open protocol that allows devices to connect regardless of brand. For the majority of people however, combining Alexa and Google Assistant voice controls is probably the best bet.

Family Hub

This refrigerator freezer is the most modern that you can buy. It has a 21-inch touchscreen integrated into the door, as well as a host of smart features. You can access entertainment apps, leave notes for family members (think big digital version of a notebook that's stuck to the fridge) and check for weather updates, and much more, all thanks to Samsung's voice-activated assistant, Bixby.

Frydge can also be used to manage your food items and recipes, with the ability to add ingredients straight from a recipe app and see what's in your fridge using internal cameras. You can also make a shopping list on the go and keep track of foods to know when they'll expire. You can also use a specific recipe app that will provide instructions while you cook.

Samsung has spent an entire year reworking the Family Hub fridges based on feedback from customers. You can now create different profiles for each member of your family so that they can personalize the information and apps they can access. It's not as good as Alexa integration into your fridge, but it's an improvement over the model of last year.

Apart from its features for entertainment and grocery management, Family Hub also acts as controller for Samsung's SmartThings platform. It can be used to control Matter-compatible devices, such as lights plugs, locks, and lights.

Samsung's fridge has been around for a few years now and, while it still provides a decent amount of usefulness, the touchscreen smarts don't really stand out as an essential feature for many people. They're more fun and a bit of frivolous accessories than anything else.

That might change as more software updates are released, but for now these models are ideally for those looking for the most comprehensive connected fridge that is possible. If you aren't one of them, you can always pick up a cheaper model that doesn't have the Family Hub to save some money. This could be worth it for you when you have a number of smart home appliances that require control by the same device, or if you enjoy the idea of having refrigerators with a huge touchscreen.
