After the announcement, the title was criticized on social media for selling over 54 million copies.


Mojang, Minecraft, and Microsoft were the top three most popular on Monday afternoon.

Markus "Notch", the founder of Mojang, has previously criticized Microsoft.


However, not everyone reacts negatively to the sale.


Tom Bramwell (the outgoing editor in chief of eurogamer.net) tweeted: "Clearly I'm not @notch, however I can relate his comments about not wanting my whole life to be defined. Godspeed!"


Blackspawn wrote, "I think that he is a great man and I totally understand his decision and support him."
